It is undeniable that the appearance of social media brings huge merits to people life. However, apart from its benefits, there are still significant disadvantages that people nowadays may face when using social media.

First of all, it has negative effects on our health in the long run. Specifically, the eyes will be influenced firstly since people now tend to spend hours and hours on the strong light from screen of smart phone, laptop, computer and TV. That is the reason why young people who are short- sighted increase rapidly. Besides, people are suffering from obesity due to being inactive. They can sit all day in order to watching favorite movies or playing computer games instead of going outside with friends. Secondly, it distracts students from their study. Actually, there are many interesting things available on the social media that we can entertain anytime. It may be easy to find that students prefer wandering on social network or watching a favorite movie to doing homework. Therefore, their study result can be affected if they are addicted to social media. Finally, the content and information on social media are not selected that have disadvantageous impacts on the users. Along with the advanced achievement of human, there exists some immoral activities like gambling, terror, violence and so on that are showed on social network. Thus, bad guys may exploit this gap to do depraved things. In conclusion, we have to be alert when using social media in order not to become its slaver. Especially, if we are a smart user, we will prevent its negative sides.
